Legislating Christianity forever – will the 112th Congress comply with the religious demands of the Chaplain of the House of Representatives?
If Clete Kiley really believes that his deity is wise, then why would he question his deity’s act of delivery of special wealth to the United States, while keeping other nations poor? Is Kiley asking Congress to overrule the Christian deity’s work, or just to clean up the mess that deity made?
The House Chaplain says that the apocalypse is coming soon. Just what are the members of the House of Representatives supposed to do with this piece of information? Provide extra funding to FEMA? Pass a resolution directing the State Department to prepare a special diplomatic mission to greet Jesus?
The office of the Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives is not merely a position of government-established religion. It appears to be particularly a Christian position. There has never been a non-Christian religious official who has held the position of House Chaplain. Women may be interested to know that a woman has never served in the position.
