You have to remember, this was the 60s. They didn’t know about the dangerous effects of turning your brain off back then.
But, Senator Lieberman has significantly tipped the hat of the government, suggesting that there was torture taking place right until the date that George W. Bush left office. Given the Bush Administration’s outrageous history of committing multiple acts of torture and then lying about it, shouldn’t the American people have the right to know whether these late acts of torture actually took place?
The Obama White House is claiming that these kind of photographs just don’t exist. They’re claiming that they’re not trying to cover them up. They’re accusing a newspaper of lying in saying that these photographs exist. Now you have seen them too, and you can’t deny that they exist.
There have been no such investigations into sexual torture by American guards in prisons in Afghanistan. The claim by Barack Obama and by Democrats and Republicans in Congress that the world already knew about what’s in the secret photographs is a blatant lie.
Yesterday, the Democrats of the US Senate moved unanimously to help cover up all past and future acts of torture by our government. Not one newspaper has yet reported on the full impact of this amendment.
In Marsha Blackburn’s vision, the United States of America is a nation of soldiers, not a nation of freedom. That the Democratic President of the United States seems to agree with her makes me feel profoundly unsafe.
It’s time for sincere activists on the left to turn the heat on the Obama Administration, and on the Democrats who support his betrayal of our trust.
