At 11 AM on Wednesday February 1 2012, Green Party Watch started an online presidential straw poll. 31 hours later, at the time when the straw poll was scheduled to close, 1689 people had voted, each for one candidate. The results:

What the CafePress Merch Meter Didn’t Predict for the 2012 Elections… And Why

Direct-to-Garment printer CafePress has a “Cultural Barometer” of sales records it’s been using to track trends of support for 2012 Republican presidential contenders. Here are the CafePress Barometer’s readings from November 14 through December 31 of 2011.

Just a few days after the point of last tracking, the 2012 Republican Caucuses in Iowa reported [...]

Is Opposing the Patriot Act Adapting for America’s Future or Returning to the Founding Fathers? Yes, says Americans Elect.

The online privatized presidential nomination coming to a computer screen near you, Americans Elect, issued its judgments last November about the politicians who it felt were the best match for the nation. I’m not kidding: Americans Elect called them its “Top Matches” and promoted them heavily on its “Candidates” page without reference to its methodology. [...]

The Mystery Of Thousands Of Dollars For Makeup and Costumes Supporting Ron Paul

Endorse Liberty Inc., a political action committee organized by Abraham D. Niederhauser, a businessman who has made his fortune fighting bad breath, joined by an unknown person named Chris Hanson, were involved in a set independent expenditures to benefit Ron Paul. How did buying thousands of dollars of makeup and costumes help the Ron Paul for President campaign? [...]

Americans Elect introduces new “Priorities” Ranking System… Contradicting its Old System

What is Americans Elect doing?

At one level, we know what Americans Elect is doing: it intends to run the first-ever corporate privatized presidential nomination in little more than four months’ time. But on the path to that nomination, it’s rather unclear what Americans Elect is doing; its procedures, rationales, leadership, communications, funding and metrics [...]

Americans Elect Leader: Mitt Romney doesn’t have Big enough Balls

Americans Elect says it doesn’t “support or oppose any particular candidate” for President in 2012. But Americans Elect Leader Mark McKinnon just went on MSNBC to declare that Mitt Romney is lacking in the testicular department. What do you call that? [...]

Timothy McVeigh Succeeded

The Big Brother spying laws that Newt Gingrich defends have disabled this constitutional protection, creating a law enforcement system that has more in common with that of the Soviet Union than what the authors of the Bill of Rights had in mind. Americans who support the Bill of Rights must take a stand against Newt Gingrich. [...]

Who Americans Elect Twitter Followers actually want for President: Ron Paul and Elizabeth Warren

Americans Elect is trying to run a social media campaign on Twitter. Using the hashtag #WhoWillAmericansElect, it’s asking people to name the people they’d like to see run for President. So far, these are the results with less than a hundred participants:

Ron Paul: 16 votes Elizabeth Warren: 10 votes Barack Obama: 9 votes Bernie [...]

How Moderate are Americans Elect’s Select Nine?

Yesterday, the corporate presidential nominating effort called Americans Elect communicated with favor toward nine American politicians, nine politicians it featured in a dedicated banner on top of its new “Candidates” page. We’ll call these the Americans Elect Select Nine. They are Republican former Governor Buddy Roemer, Republican Congressman Dennis Ross, Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy, Republican [...]

Ron Paul fans and GOPsters Flood Americans Elect Facebook Page

I’ve been keeping an eye on the number of Facebook fans of the 501c4 corporate presidential nomination called Americans Elect, out of curiosity more than anything else. Today, I noticed a spike at www.facebook.com/americanselect:

The messages they’re leaving aren’t expressing appreciation for Americans Elect. They’re applauding Americans Elect’s opposition: the stable of Republican presidential [...]
