I don’t understand the goal of trying to get the Secretary of the Treasury fired, just two weeks before the election of a new President of the United States. Henry Paulson will be gone from the Department of the Treasury in 3 months anyway, replaced by a new Treasury Secretary.

Section 3 is where these regulatory reforms and enforcement of accountability ought to be included. Yet, there’s not really anything there. Section 3 merely states that the Secretary of the Treasury will “consider” protecting taxpayers from the consequences of Wall Street’s gross ineptitude.

Beware The Rush To Put America 700 Billion More In Debt

If there really is such a rush, and if the consequences of Wall Street failure are truly so monumental, why don’t those individuals who will benefit from the government bailout pay for the scheme? Why not pass the legislation – along with a special investment income tax that will provide the money to make the deal work?
