Thank you, President Obama, for showing us the wisdom of the middle ground! I’m going to take this new philosophy to heart tomorrow, and go out in public with my shirt halfway over my head, and my pants around my knees.
How disappointing that President Obama has chosen fear over reason, for the sake of political expediency. How encouraging it is to see Representative Nadler challenge the Obama Administration, and continue to speak up for the cause of impartial justice.
Thanks to Ron Paul for speaking out against Obama’s unjust military tribunals. What a sad state the Democratic Party is in when a Republican from Texas speaks out against a Bush-era abuse that the Democrats in Congress all refuse to confront.
Today, I looked again. I searched the online offices of all the most celebrated “progressive” members of the House and Senate. Though they’ve had three days now to review, reflect upon and react to the military tribunal announcement, none of them have dared to challenge it.
In the Senate, Russ Feingold and Barbara Boxer are saying nothing. Even Bernard Sanders, the Democratic-aligned independent from Vermont, offered no dissent.
